New computers are here!

Three new public computers and a color laser printer were installed at the library on July 20.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Opportunity Online Grant and matching funds contributed by the community provided the funds for the purchase.

The new computers are Windows 7; all public computers now have Microsoft Office 2007.

Back to school

In cooperation with Carolyn Wenz School, the library has a copy of each 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade textbook for District 95. The books may be used in the library - or assignment pages photocopied - when students forget to bring their books home.

Have you signed up for email notices?

The library offers email notices as a fast way to contact you about materials. If you sign up, you will receive an email when an item is almost due, when an item is on hold for you, and when items are late.

What are the benefits?

  • You get a reminder before something is due, giving you time to renew or return before it's late.
  • Email notices get to you faster than regular mail.
  • It saves the library money. The library spends nearly $1000 a year on postage, mostly for late notices.
  • It is environmentally friendly.

Sign up at the library OR go to profile in My Account to add your email address. Then call or email to ask us to activate email notices in your account. You can cancel this service at any time.

Request specific items in LINC

New! When looking at a title in LINC, you may request any copy as usual or you may request a specific item. This is especially useful when requesting something on the shelf here or when needing a certain issue of a magazine. If the owning library has assigned local holds only to their copy, requesting that specific item may not work. "Local holds" means that only cardholders from the owning library may request it. For example, new items at Paris Public Library are on local holds for several weeks to give our cardholders first chance to check them out.
