The regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order at 4:30 p.m. by President Sharon Farris. In attendance were Mary Taylor, Greg McHenry, Amy McGilvrey, Susan Punzelt, George Griffin, Roxanne Michels, Ryan Fehrmann and Librarian Teresa Pennington. Absent were Trustees Aaron Rhoads, Ryan Fehrmann.
Minutes of Previous Meeting: MOTION: McGilvrey, second McHenry to approve minutes. Motion carried.
Finance Report: MOTION: Michels, second McHenry to approve updated report. Motion carried.
Book Committee: The library purchased 25 fiction and eight nonfiction titles.
*MOTION: McHenry, second Punzelt for Griffin to engage Ted Snedeker to refurbish the interior front doors, including placing glass panes in them, for approximately $1000 per door. Motion carried.
*MOTION: Griffin, second Taylor for Pennington to engage Thad Cary from Ray’s Lock Shop to retrofit the two bathroom doors to be self-locking, with ADA-approved handles, for a cost of $407.92. Motion carried.
Librarian’s Report (Statistics): MOTION: McHenry, second Michels to approve report. Motion carried.
Friends of the Library: No report.
*MOTION: McGilvrey, second McHenry to pay custodian Ray Korte $100 for shelving work during plaster project this past summer. Motion carried.
New Business: Discussion on using a collection agency module available for use with the new Polaris automation system that will be in place next year. The module sends information to Unique Management System to retrieve materials or fines owed.
*Storyhour begins October 16. Mark Twain will speak on October 30 at 6:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church. A program on the Sisters of Providence in the Civil War will be presented on November 15. Booth Library at EIU received a grant to present “America’s Music” in area libraries. Paris library will be a host site.
